Scheduled Individual and Group Classes at The Mill

After a longer-than-usual winter, it's exciting to see spring turn into summer.
Pre-book evening classes now for the coming season, or consider attending one
of Larissa's drop-in sessions to get inspiration on your own works in progress!

You do not need an art background to participate. Just
bring an open mind, a love of colour and a willingness to play!

Nature Is Nurture

–

This 5-week course is centered around nature, creating drawing, painting
and layering with mixed media and acrylics.  The class is for students
who want to take more creative risks with their paintings; focus will be
on experimental play with layered backgrounds, mark-making and poetic
license.

This is a five-week course.

• Dates: 5 sessions, Fri Jul 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th and Aug 3rd
  
• Duration: 2.5 hours 6-8:30PM
• Supplies: Bring an apron, container for water, paper towels, selection of brushes (fan, round, chisel-tip etc.), selection of acrylics (some will be available if you run short)
• Price: $220 (min. 4 people to run, max. 10)

Drop-In Thursdays (July/August): Weekly Theme / Bring Your Own Project

Creative individuals are encouraged to bring their own artwork or journals
in-progress for feedback, advice and suggestions, or just to work in
a stimulating environment surrounded by beautiful gardens and other artists.
Larissa will be available for technique advice or artistic Q&A, and will have
a weekly theme if you just want to work on something new!

• Dates: July 5, 12, 19, 26; Aug 2, 9, 30
• Duration: drop-in from 6-9PM
• Some supplies available, but bring what you can
• Price: $10/person for own project, $15 to work on weekly theme (please pay in cash on arrival)

Florals and Fluid Acrylics

Participants can pick flowers from the garden here to create a one-of-a-kind
bouquet, then build up an abstract background from which the flowers will
develop using fluid acrylics combined with scraffito and layering techniques.

• Duration: 3 hours, 9AM-12PM

Papermaking with Mixed Media

Participants will create their own paper and create
a mixed-media journal cover using previously-prepared handmade paper.

Mixed Media: If You Were A Tree …

Participants will experiment with watercolour paper and fluid acrylics,
creating an abstract background from which their own unique tree will emerge.
